WELCOME TO WEEK 6!

WHAT'S HAPPENED THIS WEEK?
What a fabulous time we had on Tuesday morning, completing our Matawara Swimming Sports! It was a very relaxed style of competition with it all over before 11am and that was including the fun relays!
Well done to all of our swimmers, and it was great to see the lovely team work that was occurring all morning.
The results of this event will be published in our school newsletter.

This week we have been working on our Team Treaty, which will be on display in the near future, in addition to further developing our Leadership skills through a verbal communication game and Scratch!

MEET 'NATIONAL' - THE ONLY SOURCE OF MUSIC IN ASPIRE!!
Although you are not able to come into the Team space currently, we thought we would share a little of our life with you... You may have heard the stories come home about the Music Source in our Team! We have gone completely OLD SCHOOL with our method of music and it has to come through 'National.'

Oh boy has it been great seeing the children come to grips with pushing a button IN, not just touching it! Also, having to 'fast forward' and 'rewind' to find the song you want, and the endless time spent looking at the tape wheels turning - PRICELESS!
Some of our Team have bought tapes, in addition to me, Linda and Helen bringing them in. It is fair to say, Helen wins the "best selection" prize! Her tape set is EPIC! It is wonderful Teacher mindfulness, listening to 'PROPER music!!!' - oh no, did I actually just write that! Feel free to send some of your (well named) classics in.
PS - Baby Yoda is our Team Mascot - you will hear more from him later!
DISCLAIMER - although National has proven to be very reliable thus far, we can't accept responsibility for when he decides to 'chew tapes' although... we know how to put these two tools together!

POD LIBRARY -
This one is a '2021 Throwback' to a popular pod I shared. It is one I have listened to more that once, and is a wealth of information.
This podcast is centred around Dr Ginni Mansberg’s new book The New Teen Age, which she co-wrote with clinical psychologist Jo Lamble. This book shares evidence-based strategies for raising today's tweens and teens to feel confident and strong.
Dr Ginni asks the questions on everyone’s mind - Why are today's parents feeling like failures, worried that their teens will 'go off the rails', won't get through school, won't find a job or will be overwhelmed by stress? ENJOY!

NETSAFE - A WONDERFUL RESOURCE FOR YOU! -
With our team so immersed in Technology outside of school hours, and the many apps that they are engaged with, we would like to remind you all of 'Netsafe.' This is an outstanding FREE resource that should be your first port of call when you have concerns about what your child is doing online.

Here is their online Parenting Toolkit that we highly recommend you read. In it, is a HUGE amount of information about how you can support your child through using the internet in a safe and responsible way. As usual, we would like to remind each of you, that the age limit on many of the social media apps that cause emotional upset, is 13.

YEAR 8 PROJECTS -
These are DUE on FRIDAY at 9am! Please give your Year 8 a reminder from home about this also :)
